Melanie Bowman LCSW

Senior Advocate

Melanie Bowman, Senior Advocate for Harmony Home Health CareWhen Melanie came to Harmony Home Health in 2008, she planned on making her stay only temporary. Her husband Jonathan,  owner of Harmony Home Health, convinced her to quit her job and come work for him until she found something she loved. As fate would have it, Melanie immediately fell in love with working at Harmony Home Health and has never looked back.

With a Masters in Public Health and a Masters in Social Work, Melanie offers a unique insight into senior in home care. As the Senior Advocate for Harmony Home Health, Melanie has a multi-faceted position that allows her to ensure the highest quality of life for every one of our valued clients.

Melanie is instrumental in crafting each individualized care plan. Initially, Melanie meets with our clients and their families, conducting an assessment of their total well-being, physical and emotional. She then works with our Nursing Consultant and Director of Operations to develop a comprehensive in-home care plan customized for each client.

Melanie is a master networker, and has developed strong relationships with providers in all aspects of the senior home health care industry. She works diligently to facilitate cooperation between providers and our clients. For instance, when a patient is discharged from a care facility, Melanie is the point person to ensure their safe discharge and return home, and helps coordinate with the other support staff to maximize benefits to the client.

Some of Melanie’s primary interests are in therapy and counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and applies this unique skill set by teaching clients and their families how to manage caregiver stress and the anxiety of life’s transitions.

Melanie’s sensitivity to people in need was apparent even in graduate school when she helped to establish a free clinic to support the indigent population in Tampa.  She continues to contribute to community education efforts by acting as a facilitator for an Alzheimer’s support group and by speaking throughout the community.

Melanie is a member of Better Living for Seniors and the Guardian Association.  Additionally, she is a member of the National Honor Society for Social Work. Her involvement extends past the home health care arena as well.  She is the Co-Chair for Super Sunday and the Volunteer Coordinator for the Young Adult Division of the Jewish Federation of Pinellas County.  She is also the Treasurer at her Toastmaster’s club.
